What

We organized a three-day co-design workshop within the event series  “Designing Our Livable Cities Together” which was hosted by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Istanbul. We came together with 30 creative professionals such as architects, sound designers, makers, illustrators to discuss the potentials of the selected location in Istanbul and the livability and accessibility of public spaces. The main goal was co-designing and physically building a pavilion on the selected square regarding two days of learnings, brainstorming, and discussions.

We invited 3 architects from The Netherlands to connect with Turkish creatives to share their learnings, methods and stories.

We also invited architecture companies which designed two different parts of the selected square;  ŞanalArch and Tabanlıoğlu Architecture. Their presentation was the one of the first impression of the location for foreign designers.

After two days of discovery, discussions and sketches we shared a limited materials and equipments with the participants which is collected plastic box wastes from all over the Beyoglu district to create awareness about waste and capacity of materials. Last day of the workshop we all came together to build the pavilion and got down to work. At the end of the day, with the sunset, we finalized the details and celebrated what we did but mostly how we created new connections with the city, disciplines and each other.
